BLACKWATER SAILING CLUB UNVEILS NEW BUILDING

Posted: Aug 2, 2010

THE Blackwater Sailing Club officially opened its new extension on Sunday.

The extension includes a large workshop for maintaining safety boats at the Basin Road-based club in Heybridge, with an adjoining steward's office plus a self-contained cadet and training room.

The new building, which took only six months to build, was on time and budget by builders T J Evers of Tiptree.

The opening ceremony was performed by Ian Marks, long time member of the club and a former commodore, who was accompanied by Ben Stewart, one of the youngest cadets.

The club has a membership of nearly a 1,000 and caters for all levels of sailing in both dinghies and cruisers and it also has its own large training lake.

Further details can be found on the comprehensive website at blackwatersailingclub.org.uk.
