Today, members of the Evers team were delighted to attend the official opening of the new Wheels for All accessible cycling hub at Old Heath Recreation Ground, Colchester.
The opening marked an important milestone for a project that will provide people of all ages and abilities with greater access to cycling in a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment.
It was a pleasure to celebrate alongside Mervyn Denney, former Managing Director of Ever; Martin Croot, Evers’ Project Manager who oversaw the delivery of the works; Jo Smith, Wheels for All Coordinator for Colchester, the wider Wheels for All Team and Winnie Leung from Colchester City Council. Their passion, commitment and collaboration have been instrumental in bringing this fantastic community facility to life.
We were also pleased to be joined by Tiptree Building Supplies (TBS) and Rightmix, whose generous support helped make the project possible. We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Buggs Skips for supporting the project by providing a generous discount on the skip hire.
As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the communities in which we work, Evers was proud to provide the plant, labour and materials required to excavate the site and construct the concrete base for the new cycle shelter and storage facility.
This project is a fantastic example of what can be achieved when local organisations, businesses and volunteers work together towards a shared goal. Through collaboration and community spirit, a lasting facility has been created that will enable more people to experience the enjoyment, independence and health benefits that cycling can bring.
